Project lead: ECRA
The European Cement Research Academy (ECRA) has been working for more than 10 years on the development of carbon capture technologies for the cement industry. A special focus is on oxyfuel technology, and an oxyfuel cement kiln has been developed to a level which allows the demonstration of the technology on industrial scale. ECRA is involved in HeidelbergCement’s CCS project in Norway. As carbon capture technologies develop to significant level for the cement industry, a very important question with regard to practical implementation is what to do with the captured CO2. ECRA is able to provide wide-ranging information about CO2 capture initiatives in the cement industry and is also a point of contact with the main players.
